Officially Old
There's no more "cute" label. I'm well past "middle age", and have become, by any definition, a "senior citizen". It's no longer relevant that I "retired early" since I'm now past "retirement age".
I'm not quite sure how to behave. When I was younger, I came to have certain expectations of old folks. They had aches and pain and they fell asleep at odd times, but they showed a kind of wisdom that came from their life experience.
Now, I have slowed down some, and I do nap sometimes during the evening news, but my aches and pains are few. As for the wisdom thing, I'm real disappointed. I had hoped to have things figured out by now.
Maybe the wisdom I thought I saw was merely a recognition of the reality that the the big questions of life are unanswerable, and a willingness to let them be. I'm not there yet.
